: : : Canola oil is not in the Swank book. I do not use it but was curious about if it is acceptable or not?

: : I use it on a regular basis. I think Barbara said it was OK. Others please confirm.

: This is not an official Swank diet answer but I do know Dr. Andrew Weil does not recommend canola oil due to the possibility of high residual pesticides in the oil and he feels the omega 3 and omega 6 ratios are not optimal in it. He stongly recommends olive oil for about everything. Dr Weil agrees with many of Dr. Swank's recommendations for MS including avoiding saturated fats and emphasizing eating healthy oils from fish and by using olive oil.

I won't use canola and after checking it out myself found the same. Low omega 3's, 6's and high pesticide. I do use Olive but have found that sunflower is better for me so I am trying to use more hi oleic sunflower and safflower and a little less olive. I buy all of the organic so the pesiticides aren't an issue,
Thanks all
Nic
