I was told at Swank's clinic that canola was okay to use. That was before research on canola was out.
I also have read about the pesticide issue in various papers on canola. I do not use it and tell everyone I know not to. I use olive the majority of the time. If I am making a dish where a bland oil is essential I use sunflower or corn. These are on the Swank list as being okay, but the general consensus is that olive is about the best you can use.
