Jeff, I am sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I am an R.N. with M.S. On our Surgical floor/gynecology even Medical floors we had 'foot boards' at the end of the beds to people could push with their toes and upper feet on this L shaped 'footboard.' It helped extremety circulation and prevented footdrop. It literally is like plywood in the shape of an L. The lower portion of the L being under your mattress and the upper portion stand ing 'up' so when in bed you can push against the board and do 'isometric'sort of push-up with your toes and upper foot. Hope this helps.
