I don't know from personal experience but I have a friend who was fitted with some type of brace that helped her. Perhaps your current neuro would know more about your options on that or a foot specialist. I think I'd try the neuro first.
Just recently I went to see the Lord of the Rings and as we left the theatre, my shoe's toe hung up on the grout lines between the cement squares. Don't know if that would have happened to anyone or if I didn't lift my foot high enough, but it caught and I went splat. Ended up in hospital for xrays of my arm.
In the past I have had times where my foot tended not to lift high enough and I almost tripped or my foot hung up. It passed with more rest. Don't you just love hearing MORE REST? Ha. Good luck and maybe someone else will have more info for you.
